Pricing

What It Costs, and What Moves the Number.

We price the project, not a rate card, and we will tell you what it costs the day after you send the dimensions.

Straight answer

Why There Is No Price List Here

Because a price per board would tell you almost nothing about what your project costs.

Two decks of the same square footage can need different board counts depending on where the joints land and how the run works out. A dock and a corral rail in the same size are different jobs. And a published rate card goes stale the moment freight, material or run schedules change: which in this business is often.

So we do the takeoff instead. Send the dimensions and you get the real number for your project, usually the next business day, with the board count and the layout that produced it. You can put that next to a quote for timber and compare like with like, which a price per foot never lets you do.

What moves the number

Five Things That Change the Price

None of them are surprises, and all of them are worth knowing before you ask.

How much board

The largest factor by far, and the one the takeoff settles exactly rather than approximately.

Which profile

A deck board, a heavier rail and a bunk liner are different sections of material, and they price differently.

Colour and run schedule

What is on the floor when you order. Being flexible on colour can mean a shorter wait and sometimes a better number.

Fasteners and extras

Screws, hidden fastener systems and hardware are counted into the package rather than left for you to work out.

Pickup or delivery

Pickup is from Lacombe or Georgina. Delivery is priced separately and shown as its own line, not buried.

Quantity

A municipal order of forty benches and a single deck are not priced the same way. Tell us the scale.

The honest comparison

It Costs More Today. That Is the Whole Trade.

We are not going to pretend otherwise. Pressure-treated timber will always be cheaper on the invoice, and cedar usually is too.

Year one
You pay more
The material costs more per board than treated timber. There is no version of this where that is not true.
Every year after
You stop paying
No stain, no sealant, no sanding weekend, no replacement boards, no crew time.
The wet spots
Nothing gets replaced
The parts of a build that fail first (ground contact, waterline, north side) are the parts this material does not care about.
The end
There isn't one yet
Expected service life is 50+ years.* The question stops being what it costs and becomes how many rebuilds you skipped.

*Estimated service life depends on installation, use and environmental conditions.

Before you ask

Pricing, Answered

How fast can I get a price?

Usually the next business day once you have sent dimensions. Straightforward jobs are often faster.

Is the quote firm or an estimate?

Firm, for the material list it covers. If the project changes, the number changes, but you will not be surprised by the same job costing more later.

Do you have a minimum order?

No minimum and no account needed. People buy a single board and people buy a boardwalk.

Is there a discount for larger orders?

Tell us the scale when you ask. A municipal order or a multi-site project is not priced the same way as one deck.

Do you deliver, and what does it cost?

Pickup is from Lacombe in Alberta or Georgina in Ontario. Ask about delivery when you send dimensions and it will be priced as its own line on the quote.

Can I see it before I commit?

Ask for a sample. It is the cheapest way to settle whether the material is right for the job.
